Prof. Georgi Momekov, PhD, DSc

Prof. Georgi Momekov, PhD, DSc, is the Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Toxicology of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. He is a board-certified specialist in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy.

Currently, he is the chairman of the state examination commissions for the acquisition of board certification in Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacy. He is the coordinator of the National Expert Council on Clinical Pharmacy, Drug Analysis, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Phytopharmaceutical Products and is a member of the National Expert Council on Immunizations at the Ministry of Health.

Prof. Momekov is the Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Scientific Pharmaceutical Society. He is a member of the Scientific Society of Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapy, the Bulgarian Society of Toxicology, EUROTOX, IUTOX, as well as the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union. Prof. Momekov's scientific interests are mainly focused on the fields of experimental antineoplastic chemotherapy, oncopharmacology, design of antineoplastic drugs, ethnopharmacology and phytotherapy. He has authored/co-authored over 300 publications, including papers in scientific journals, chapters of monographs, books and textbooks.
