Prof. Jarmila Heissigerova, MBA, MD, PhD, is a professor at the Department of Ophthalmology General University Hospital Prague in Czech Republic. She received her MD from Charles University, First Medical Faculty, in Czech Republic in 1998. Between the years 2002 and 2004 she worked in Scotland at the University of Aberdeen as Clinical Research Fellow to Professor Forrester in the field of Uveitis and Retinal diseases.
In 2010, Prof. Heissigerova was named Associate Professor at Charles University and in 2017 a full Professor in the field of Ophthalmology. In 2016, she was appointed to her current post, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague, where her main area of research is Uveitis and Retinal diseases, Ocular Immunology, Intraocular lymphoma and Microbiome.
Her memberships include the Czech Ophthalmological Society, International Uveitis Study Group, the Scientific Board of the Czech Ophthalmological Society, Scientific Board of the First Medical Faculty of Charles University, and of the Specialization Board for Ophthalmology.
