Prof. Sonja Praprotnik, MD, PhD

Prof. Sonja Praprotnik, MD, PhD, is head of the Clinical Department of Rheumatology, University Medical Centre, Ljubljana in Slovenia. Her interests lie in the management and treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic conditions, and she is actively involved in an extensive number of clinical trials in this field.

Prof. Praprotnik’s research interests include the incorporation of biologic agents targeted synthetics DMARD in rheumatoid arthritis and spondylarthritis. She has published 220 articles, several textbooks and chapters in international books in the field of rheumatology, including "Weisman MH, Weinblatt ME, Louie JS, et al, editors. Target treatment of rheumatic diseases. Philadelphia: Saunders, an imprint of Elsevier, 2010."

Prof. Praprotnik is passionate about the medical care she provides and enjoys educating her students. Her professional career outside of academia includes writing columns for patients in medical magazines.
