The organizers of the 11th International Medis Awards for Medical Research (IMA) have received 251 entries. The International Scientific Committee will carefully review these submissions to ensure they meet the criteria required for authors to become nominees for the 11th IMA. Over the coming weeks, the Committee will select two finalists from each research field, with the official announcement scheduled for January 2025. The winners of the 11th IMA will be revealed during the Awards Ceremony in March 2024.

11 countries and 9 fields

One of the notable features of the 11th IMA is the expansion of the contest to include the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This expansion allows doctors and pharmacists from these two countries to join the regional scientific community that has been cultivated over the past decade through the International Medis Awards. It also provides researchers from all participating countries an opportunity to gain deeper insights into research in Central Europe and present their achievements to a broader international audience.

Another new development is the introduction of dermatology as a research field, replacing gastroenterology.

New members of the International Scientific Committee

To ensure objectivity and incorporate fresh scientific perspectives, members of the International Scientific Committee serve limited terms of three years. This policy helps maintain the highest standards of evaluation while recognizing significant contributions to research. For the 2024–2027 mandate period, new committee members were appointed this June.
